“It was supposed to be a normal Monday, one spent teaching English to students learning to call the Space Coast home. Instead, a Brevard teacher returned to her classroom on Jan. 26 to find her students beside themselves, and she soon discovered why: A former classmate, one who dropped out only a few months prior so he could work, had been picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement over the weekend during a traffic stop. By Monday, he had already been taken to a Miami detention center.” (Florida Today, 2/8/2026)
