Updates on the Fight for Quality Public Education in Brevard County, FL
0:00 We’re here with the school board and
0:09 this is just an informal luncheon, a time
0:18 to discuss what has happened over the last, uh, session, what may be, will be happening in the state that can impact education in the future, so time to assess plans, also some relationship building. Now we have let’s go into their second year. The superintendent has called my mom to have a chance to, uh, get together in an informal setting and it’s obviously here and we appreciate it.
0:46 Uh, a couple of things. Um, bathroom that you need them out these doors to the right. Um, Thank you
0:58 so much for for
1:03 putting us a meeting there. Thank you.
1:13 We appreciate you guys. I’ve seen the circuit. You guys have been on multiple different panels and reports.
1:24 So we appreciate you taking time out of your day to come here and spend some time with us. I’m going to send to our agenda. Thank you, Russ, that you have printed out to us. You’re welcome. Okay, so we are going to start with the political weakness and then I’ll turn it over to Dr. Miller. To the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
2:04 First of all, I want to thank Dr. Miller on behalf. This is not an introduction. We can’t continue to share some of the discussion.
2:26 And this is what we want to put forth and hear from them. So it’s just kind of an informal get together. You can’t really have an informal
2:39 get together if you like. So, that’s why we got this in, and we’re going to do this. Um, it’s good. You know, so I think it’s great for us to have this conversation in the sunshine. We’ll get to some
2:56 stuff later, but I’m going to go ahead and say thank you to our local delegation. They work on behalf of our
3:08 constituents here. Our
3:15 tangible supports that
3:20 Anybody have one? three, and then we can just have an open conversation. Alright, so, I am not going to stay until lunch. for being here. I appreciate that. Um, Mr. Snickers will leave quite briefly. I think he was saying, for being here. Uh, for being here. And,
4:04 I don’t get to be here after November, so
4:10 I Again. I
4:21 feel it necessary. I’m here to say my piece. I don’t have anything necessarily to thank for. And
4:43 people are missing from this room, obviously. And I think you know very well why. Um, I don’t know if maybe they got stuck behind their keyboard or from underneath the desk they’re hiding from. But the fact that our local representatives are too cowardice to sit inside of a room where the officials that they know are blindness is embarrassing.
5:07 So thank you for having the courage to sit in this room. One of them, you can roll your eyes in this right because you endorse that man. And I have every right to say this. This is an informal meeting. I’m saying this because of my seven year old daughter, her every in this county, in the very room I got married to my husband in.
5:29 That’s why I’m speaking out. I know I am. Mr. Seroy doesn’t have the guts to be here today. Mr. Seroy was too scared to run against, I guess, Mr. Klein. Because of what he might do to his family. But no one thinks about the 34 year old boy’s family who has to stand up to the attacks of that man every single day.
5:55 No one thinks about that. Don’t even try interrupting this, right? Don’t even try. Ms. Mayfield, I have mentioned publicly and privately multiple times.
6:10 cleans up the disaster mess that that man has done to this county when he takes away appropriations, when he threatens appropriations. You don’t get credit for a
6:23 future. Continue to not be a coward like this. Stand up and say that you did that because you deserve credit for that. It’s disturbing that you have to do that. It’s wrong. It’s wrong for the students of Brevard County. It’s wrong for the staff of Brevard County. It’s wrong for every single resident of Brevard County.
6:44 I didn’t even want to come here today. I didn’t want to come here today. It is hard for me to thank people who don’t have the courage to stand up and say when something is wrong. But I’m here. I’m here the day after a supposed representative of this county not only claims I’m having an affair, but says I’m a rapist.
7:09 How about that, media? I don’t know if any of you have daughters, but I would like you to think about that. Help a supposed representative of Brevard County attack a young woman, the mother of a young daughter, relentlessly. It’s disgusting, and I can assure you, he will be helping them. Continue to have courage.
7:39 Make women proud.
7:44 But I promise you, you can ask anyone on both sides of the aisle, I have thanked you for stepping in and cleaning up the mess that he makes. Make women proud. It is so wrong. It is so wrong. And I refuse to stay here for lunch. I actually have a meeting to do something else. Because this is just disgusting.
8:11 And the people who didn’t show up today I am really excited how it works. Absolute how it works. Enjoy your lunch. Fire! Excuse me?
8:40 You got something you’d like to say? I just said it. Fire! I said fire.
8:52 I want candy right? It just didn’t fit any better. I couldn’t stop laughing. I didn’t know you were That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen. I guess you forgot to mention the part about the video, dude.
9:20 Everything is delicious here. I love it. Yeah. This is the cell phone. buddy. You’re welcome. Yeah.
9:40 That’s what we have done on this side. Just to advance the search of the person who did this. I don’t know what else to do. After it’s done at all.
10:22 I said, what does it mean? Oh wait, it’s just a, it’s not a comment. Okay. It’s not a comment. It’s not a comment. It’s not a comment.
10:46 I’ll just put it this way. Yeah, it’s on the rocket. It’s on the rocket. It’s on the rocket. It’s on the rocket. I’m livestreaming on the rocket. But I think it’s funny as well. I’ll step outside. And
12:00 it’s a fire.
12:39 It’s over.
12:45 Hey, good to see you. Are you going to do that tour? Yes. Okay, cool. You told everyone? Yes. We’re very excited. for your time. Oh, no worries. I appreciate it. I heard that the videos are coming out. Now we’re working on those. A little bit more so left. We’ve also been doing videos. Specific for ESC students. Yes, yes, yes.
13:08 So we’re doing two things. We’re doing like, ESC and then also you can make this online. We’re trying. Yeah, I really can’t believe we do that. We can text all this stuff. Just trying to figure out ways to get more than one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Great job. very much. It’s set. There you go.
13:49 Just sharing my daughter with you now.
13:59 Okay, this was wrong. This was He’s so smart. Correct. He was a law suit.
14:27 Well, that she was telling me it just overlapped. Oh, I like that work happens. It’s accurate.
14:57 Would we benefit from video of those two together against Lee? Say that again? Does that include a backup from video of the two of them the other side? Behind them? There is no backup. She has taken forever to upload. I’ll get a picture. Okay. Well, who said that people were sent to jail? Who said that? Okay.
15:26 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That’s a. Okay. Awesome.
16:33 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mm.
17:26 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That’s why. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
18:49 I love the house. I supported that. That’s they weren’t programs. They weren’t they were just like it was a one arm. And he was all over that. How’s your suit? It’s not one night.
19:20 There’s a weird name for sale, and it’s not supposed to be proper, because I think it’s not really for sale, but it’s for sale. And that was in Zoom. There’s a link in there? Yeah. Read that. It’s terrible. Yeah, it’s on Facebook.
20:15 Thank you. You want to know why I did that?
20:22 Yeah, it’s on the rocket page. I think, I think the issue is that they don’t function and our students are suffering because they don’t function.
20:49 So, that’s all good. Just talk. I told her to go.
20:58 Yeah, because I want to get like fun. I’ve never done that before. We, um, Um, When they do
21:48 like the summer camps and stuff, a lot of it gets set up in here. Okay, I brought my granddaughter here five years ago, but I’ve never seen this park. Yeah, it’s really pretty. This is nice. Mm hmm.
22:03 And you have up close parking. Yes. I can come along. Yeah, the first time I came, I parked like where the zoo people park, and it was a mile long. It is. But if you parked over here.
22:36 I don’t think you can watch the beginning until the end of the live stream. Yep, correct. Automatically
22:46 posted. Okay. So, he is at home. We had to have an inspection done on his bottom left solar panel. Like this. I could end it and restart it. She takes too long. They said that during the tonight’s show, Johnny first. Yeah, we know. It’s
23:32 hard,
23:35 but it’s possible. Any relationship? I have a
24:01 problem with you. Oh, that’s right. It’s the Murky. When I found out what it was to do,
24:16 Ten dollars, I couldn’t pay for this. Okay.
24:27 Dad, come on in. I was gonna bring a snack, but it’s not here. What, you’re not gonna bring a snack?
24:42 Yeah, well, if I was asked my mom, so far, I would say the beginning was a great comedy act. The dinner sucked. I was a little bit hungry. But it smells good. Yeah, it’s good. It’s good. It’s good. It’s good. It’s good.
25:43 Isolated to amine deficiency. I’m gonna have a doctor I, yeah. Because remember when we were on stage and we were coughing and the ice, the water, it’s so about allergic to pollen. It’s kind of crunchy. It’s making me feel like I’m eating something. I said, are you going to give me that? And they said, let me eat it.
26:19 Oh,
26:22 no jargon.
26:29 Oh,
26:35 it’s turned into a video. Oh, This is amazing. Yeah, she’s in the fourth. She knows she has to go on a show at the end. Chicken show. They do it at the end. I want to talk to her. Oh, I think she’d be good. When did that horse leave the family? My horse left the family. Yeah. That’s right. I never had a go anywhere.
27:02 I have a dive broom. I So, some of them, some of them never had, some of them never had smoke. And then the barn, the barn were pretty much the same. But that barn I just wanted to be behind. So I was happy.
27:29 There was a fire one day, I got a call at work, said Dan, take him to the mall, and they didn’t ask. And I was like, School and I would come over in between classes and hang smart, read my book. I used to ride it daily.
27:53 I paid the and 10 40 bucks a month just daily. All.
28:07 I didn’t do it. It was really nice. If you just want to scoop it up, it’s fine. But, uh, this was a little problem. Your lunch line would be gone. Your whip’s gone. Where’d my girth go? Oh my god, really? No, he was borrowing.
28:27 Tim, dude, I need my lunch line. Oh, I left that in, uh, stall number 14. She’s over there, just go get it. Hey, uh, Tim left my lunch line. Yeah, here it is. It was something I wasn’t ready for. Yeah. It’s good to know. This is just too funny. You should step outside. This is just too funny. I’m fine. Do you have leftovers?
28:56 I’d like
29:04 to make an announcement about donate money to the custodial staff. Seriously, they get paid so frequently. Yeah. They should. Can you make the motion on that? We’ll have to talk about it. I don’t have any college experience. Yeah, we want the strawberry shortcake. Well, I would be happy not to worry about that on your behalf.
29:33 No need to donate that to the people that work out there. Yeah, we’re here to support. Matt, Matt,
29:49 So it’s kind of hard to sit there and listen to a man, but I did that without any confidence. I’m a U. S. citizen. I’m a Trump volunteer of the month. I have a, I have a, I
30:06 have a certificate. Son, I’m going to wear this until it falls off. There you go. That was a
30:19 fine suit. What? You’ve been sitting here for all day. I told him, if he gets a new style of shirt, I’m going to make yours too large. Men’s size works. Short cadence.
30:41 Oh, y’all want to see me up there? I’m standing right in this perfect spot. I watched the chariot on the cable. You know what Fox Morning News that I watch every day? Then what do you want to read?
31:31 Oh, I got a message from my son. What do you expect? Oh, this works. Come on. That could be a hard job. Okay.
32:40 Um,
34:33 And I can’t do so much right now. It’s a building we are needing to do. I know there’s more working
34:57 teachers in the state. I mean, teachers just like other fields are flooding in support. Easier for them to come work for us.
35:13 Good to see the effects of that until we get into the next school year. Um, but, um, We’re excited for our students. And your staff who are gracious
35:34 and, and helpful.
35:59 It’s always nice. Of course I am excited. Yeah, I think it’s gonna rain today. Uh, it’s gonna rain. But, uh, you know, your accessibility has been commendable. It’s always nice for us to reach out to you. That’s a repeat. And it is extremely, um, exciting. so much. I want to ask you, what is the thing that you’re most proud of?
36:24 You. You’re still standing up right here. If you
37:10 were to name one thing that you really championed
37:57 And there’s a lot of that city trying to work with the city to do a procession. The last three weeks we’re like, oh my god, we only have a few
39:36 days left, let’s get serious.
39:58 Mental health is a big issue in the state of Alabama. Let me tell you a story.
41:34 So,
45:20 I’m going to go ahead and get started and I’m going to go ahead and get started
48:37 No, that’s good. No, that’s good. Yeah. I
48:47 saw the facts on Vioxx.
48:52 And the fact that you didn’t do it. We didn’t do it. But it would have been. Yeah, we found out. That’s what we found out.
49:33 That’s what we found out. What
49:54 did you say? What
50:05 was it? I
50:09 guess you guys. I said that one yesterday. Yeah. Instead of, uh. We’re just seeing our location. I didn’t have a location. So I asked her if
51:01 we could do a development program. Yes. Remember that?
51:08 Next year in September. Yeah.
51:24 Right. So I’m going to follow up on that since you brought it up. So a lot of our CTE or application programs are smart and time consuming.
51:41 So an idea that we’ve been kind of bandying, So
51:56 for example, we’ve got this new space mechatronics program coming in. So these kids are going to learn about, you know, fabricating their pieces. Air
52:16 traffic fabrication. We’ve got some of the inventors of different firms out there today. And they know what they want the kids to know. We have a student that graduated from Sturgill. We have some equipment that we
52:33 can use to train these kids. But, it’s going to be hard for us to find a certified teacher. There’s courses in high school now that are state certified that wouldn’t work without a teacher. But at some point, someone in the room has to certify that you can write an essay. And so, what we send from there,
53:11 Certain concept learning from the industry. Good examples.
53:44 So the idea is,
53:49 would that we still change that we need from the, is someone in the room, the teacher of you may not.
54:13 So would you have certified teachers, but then you would have in. There’s flexibility on the certification of that teacher. For
54:40 example, If a teacher wants to come first, that’s what he’s trying to do is to lead what they’re doing. This way they don’t have to. We have a
55:06 third of our population
55:11 that are looking for something to do.
55:20 Well, you’re feeding the horse that’s dead already. We’ve already, we’ve already,
55:28 so that shouldn’t,
55:38 once upon a time,
56:55 Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um,
59:48 Right?
59:56 They understand what it means. It’s more like
1:00:15 men and women that work in that class. Pretend they’re working. Or I don’t know. Or I don’t know. He’s been told he must take this test or he will not be able to serve any position. Nipple. That’s another. That’s gonna ease the injury into the teaching profession. But there’s still some rules that you have to live up to that.
1:00:35 Nipple in
1:00:52 five years. You have a teacher who can do this. If they, for example, if they look so confident. I
1:01:30 mean, we’re, you guys. Like I said, we graduated from James Madison. We still have that. That’s probably it.
1:01:42 Yes. Yeah. And you know, but again, the other thing is, I mean, you guys it always seems like
1:05:32 As we’ve said several times, you guys ask us for reference.
1:05:49 Senator Ryan Lindenborg, man, you’re a champion for his case. And Senator Nathan Lindenborg,
1:06:01 you did the same as he had been before. And she’s always done whatever she can to help us. I appreciate that. for all that.
1:06:15 Yes, Senator. She always refers to me. The guy in
1:07:30 the middle got it. Yeah?
1:07:51 States. Democrats. I asked him
1:08:02 why.
1:08:21 Thank you.
1:08:35 This is a cycle that would come forward and I stand on it, and it’s based on our leaders and their teams, and we have CEO’s, and, you know, financial people, and also the insurance companies, and more of those populations coming through our desk of service. And I guess the point I would just like to say is that we have a really strong AS personality.
1:09:00 We have our high school deputies. Anything else?
1:11:59 They were on top of it. We just have to tell them to stop. We just have to leave. We haven’t had this conversation in a while. Yeah. I think they’re on board. It was a painful system also. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Sit down and give me a good look. I’m not going to say anything. That’s awesome sir. You’re the new
1:13:32 CEO.
1:13:45 Can I tell you some fun stuff? So, you know, three years, we
1:13:53 are. Yeah.
1:14:29 That’s great. Well, that’s probably what
1:14:38 things we have. And
1:14:49 also,
1:15:08 you know, we put 700 240.
1:15:49 My wife and
1:15:59 some of them are in the 60s and early 60s. The
1:16:15 current interactions. They might think
1:16:55 maybe I’m going to show you a video of some sort of mental disability. That’s the sort
1:18:11 of
1:18:17 issue that
1:18:22 began to occur.
1:18:30 This is one of those that occurred. She was personally involved at the age of 10. Yeah. That one. Yeah. He’s run like
1:19:31 10 years to advocate.
1:19:39 And she really needed
1:20:24 Good morning,
1:20:51 I’m going to read something from the New Years Resolutions, read you something that’s interesting. Yeah, I started reading the New Year’s Resolutions. Oh, I read it then. Oh yeah, I just did the supernats. Okay.
1:23:51 Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yes. Is it a good question? That’s, yeah. You’re gonna beat this up, right? No, no. Meet up. Mr. Bernard’s got a great question. I got a question on that. They started, I stand close. Thank you so much. Thank you, Senator, for being here
1:24:39 of. Yes, it’s really, uh, careful. Those high tech jobs, my background, the nation base, you know, wasn’t there. So I understand one of the things I’m hoping that will hit that, that I’m going to be so simple that people want you to be every child with. One of the
1:25:11 things I heard what I’ve seen in the
1:25:16 public school system is a public school is going down because a lot of public schools taking their kids, which takes around 9000 of those kids. So I’m just concerned about I’m going to be talking about the degradation of public schools because that’s where a lot of poor kids are like me. First of all, thank you.
1:25:38 Maybe that they’ll never not be able to see it. I love it. Um, I’m not going to record who you are because that’s the place we’re going to work with. If you can’t do it, you can’t do it. If you can’t do it, you
1:26:05 struggle. So I’m just hoping that maybe, um, I’m going to replace those if you will. Let’s come in front of the public school and the private and what’s your thinking about having to replace those funds to make sure we have the capital resources to touch every single one. Thank you very much. One is it’s one of the additional funding and I agree with you 100%.
1:26:34 The kids can’t read by third grade. They’ll, I’m not saying they’re never going to catch up, but it will be very, very difficult for them. And so we did put additional money in the state that
1:27:03 should have a choice.
1:27:35 And tutoring. Those
1:27:51 different capitals in
1:28:00 the state.
1:28:04 It’s hard to recapture that funds, so I’m just, I’m nervous about that, um, and I’m telling you, if you don’t believe me, you’re going to see the struggles, you’re going to get some cash in the end, because of my background. But I’m just, I’m nervous about money going away, and when I look at the public data, I can see that I saw almost a 10 percent reduction in revenue, and that’s hard to make up for my college degree status, so.
1:28:33 I just want to get that off my chest. I have a question. I’m a retired Savara County school teacher. I’ve taught for 25 years. In New Orleans. In Florida and in Maryland. I disagree with you about that. Let me explain why. As a teacher, I can tell if a kid is sleeping or not sleeping.
1:29:02 I can tell if it is. That is my concern. My concern is for the students in rural areas. Uh, because I belong to six districts. That is my concern.
1:29:20 And talking to the president in Duval County, she was concerned about kids living in rural areas not being homeschooled, but being out in the field. What happened to those kids? My concern is the kid that needs to be homeschooled because of bullying, and it happens. We try to stop it, but it happens. But that kid is homeschooled when the parents realize there may be a learning disability.
1:29:52 The parents already have it. And the kid goes back into the school district. That money, we can’t trace that money. And
1:30:04 that’s been my question on this voucher bill since the beginning. Asking districts, asking, you know, what about this money? We lost, what, two million dollars? Last quarter. We were in a space, folks. Many of our schools are feeling being built in the 60s, especially here. I worked at one of the newest high schools in LeBron County, in an AC department some days.
1:30:37 There’s something about that one. Which was 37 million dollars, and then about 337 million dollars. And
1:30:49 they taught at Tucson.
1:30:55 So there’s gotta be more legislation to go like this. You’re gonna be dumping these kids who Where they have lost instruction time as well. So I beg to differ with you about the value. I wish the perfect world wouldn’t work. Here’s what’s going to happen to schools. I don’t want to get sick. I’m grateful for the school.
1:31:31 We’ve seen what it looks like. I’ve been getting black for 20 years. I plead with you to look at legislation to make sure we can practice money. To make sure that parents are not using the money to But it’s being trapped. I asked you as a classroom teacher. I didn’t. It was a smuggle. I asked you to do that.
1:31:53 I think, um,
1:32:00 But that’s step up for schools and they are not processing the money. Who’s not? Step up for schools. My daughter is a director of a special needs school in Jacksonville. Yeah. And they had to take money out of their emergency account to pay for teachers. They are not responding to phone calls. They want 20 percent more in processing fees.
1:32:22 There is another organization, AAA, that also processes the checks. They need some accountability. We need some accountability. There needs to be the in depth, the flexibility to
1:33:11 issue the correction.
1:33:18 That is not, so,
1:33:30 so,
1:33:41 to, to make corrections on where we fall. So, transparency. We
1:34:37 have to, we’ve got to have that for every single thing
1:34:55 Oh, I will.
1:35:35 Senator, I have done, I have, I have done research for this organization where I have read your bills.
1:35:45 She can’t say. I’m not speaking for that organization. And they are hot messes. They are word salads. Can’t I
1:36:02 looked at a current bill about computer science sticks, basically changing the standards and updating it because a P Cambridge and I do offering I A. And in that bill, as I’m reading it, it mentions maritime vehicles will be allowed to be in the harbor at certain times. Now, I don’t know if it’s because a young intern.
1:36:28 posted on your state website. It also mentioned dress code violations. What does dress code violations have for a bill that is being passed about renewing our policies are standards for teaching your science. They are a nightmare to read, and I’m supposed to be volunteering. I’m supposed to be retired and enjoying my life.
1:36:54 And I’m reading these bills that I will send to you. And they have nonsensical, yes.
1:37:30 I have a question. Can I ask a question? Take a moment. Just a couple of quick comments and then a quick question. Um, my
1:37:53 question goes to Patriot Report. You just decide what Patriot is. The
1:38:06 U. S. government decides. The U. S. government decides.
1:38:14 It’s a template.
1:38:18 It’s a side of the
1:38:27 patriarchy.
1:38:34 Yeah, I think you should. I think it was a good idea. Me deciding what you know. The uh, I used to see uh, I was gonna go fix my wife’s car. I used to see all her cars. I’ve been on your car. I used to see your car. Okay.
